AAS:   Are you a seasoned amateur astronomer or just getting into the hobby?

NM:   I am just getting into the hobby. I have looked in wonderment at the stars for years though.

AAS:   What was your first experience that attracted you to astronomy?

NM:   I watched a lunar eclipse when I was a child (4-5 yrs old) in the mid-1970s.

AAS:   How about your family members; spouse? kids? significant other?

NM:   I am single. I have one sister & one brother. I have 3 neices & 2 nephews. Mom nags me about getting married all the time!

AAS:   Can you tell us a little about your formal education?

NM:   B.S. Political Science, AUM (1995); M.Ed. Secondary--Social Studies, AUM (1997).

AAS:   Do you have any pets?

NM:   No pets, but I like cats.

AAS:   Where do you work? If you're retired, what was your occupation?

NM:   I am a social studies teacher at Prattville High School. This is my first year of teaching. (Ala. Hist/Geog., W.Hist, Gov'/Econ)

AAS:   What are your other hobbies?

NM:   Reading. Mainly historical biographies. "Foreign Affairs", "Current History", "National Interest", "World Policy Journal", "Nat. Geographic", "Wilson Quarterly", "Foreign Policy", & "The New Yorker" are my favorite magazines & journals.

AAS:   What was your first or favorite car?

NM:   My first and favorite car was a 1972 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia.

AAS:   What was your first "real" job?

NM:   I worked for United Parcel Service as a dispatcher for 10 years. There is nothing like working with a bunch of truck drivers!

AAS:   Tell us about your favorite vacation.

NM:   My favorite vacation will be next summer when I go to Spain & Portugal. This will be my oft-delayed graduation present.

AAS:   Have you ever lived in some other part of the country or another country?

NM:   I have always lived in the Southeastern U.S. I moved from Albany, GA to Alabama in 1984.
